Why won’t my student(s) use their webcam and microphone?
There could be different explanations such as they might not have these softwares currently on the device they’re using, may have technical issues with them, or just don’t want to turn it on as a preference.
Where the student might not have these softwares, it should not be a problem and lessons should still be carried out as usual. You can turn on your webcam, audio, or screen sharing to keep them engaged.
If the student is having technical problems with switching on their webcam or microphone, they could be led to the customer support page on troubleshooting here. If they are still having issues, then they should press the report issue button on the right side of the page.
However, if they just don’t feel like turning it on, then there is no problem with that, since they might feel nervous. Although, it would be better if you encourage them otherwise if they need it to make their lessons run smoother. Make sure that they can hear or see you okay and keep them engaged through the chatbox.
